Originally from Aberdeen, Scotland Julie has been based in Manchester for the last ten years. On completion of her performance degree at the Royal Northern College of Music she has worked extensively throughout England, Wales and Scotland.
She works in many different areas of percussion. This includes Orchestral, Brass Band, Ceilidh, Cuban, Brazilian, African, Session Work, Stage Shows, Workshops, DJ/Nightclub and Television Work - she was the resident percussionist in the House Band on Chris Moyles' Quiz Night (Channel 4). Julie was lucky enough to be the first westerner to join Choroes da Tia Ge, a samba school based in Sao Paulo, Brazil and took part in the huge Carnival there 6 years ago. Since then she has held a number of Latin and World Music residencies in and around Manchester. Within the last year she has formed an all girl vocal trio called The Woo Hoos. In this, she plays cajon while singing lead and backing vocals. They played a number of festivals in the summer and have just finished their first recording session.
Julie has worked for CAT at the Lowry for the last couple of years. This is her first experience working with a dance company and thoroughly enjoys it.
